SF Giants place trade acquisition on injured list, recall Heliot Ramos
The San Francisco Giants placed outfielder AJ Pollock on the injured list before Wednesday’s game against the Los Angeles Angels due to a left oblique strain.
As the corresponding roster move, outfielder Heliot Ramos was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento to replace Pollock on the active roster. Pollock, 35, left Tuesday’s 7-5 loss to the Angels at Angel Stadium because of left side discomfort.
A few days before the trade deadline, the Giants acquired Pollock and 29-year-old infielder Mark Mathais from the Seattle Mariners for cash considerations. He was placed on the 10-day injured list and may be out for several weeks.
Pollock, a former Arizona Diamondbacks opponent, has yet to record his first hit with the Giants in six plate appearances over five games. Pollock came to the Giants with a.173/.225/.323 slash line and a.547 OPS in 49 games.
Ramos, 23, is hitting.303/.359/.543 with a.902 OPS and eight home runs in 45 games this season for the Sacramento River Cats.
The Giants split the first two games against the Angels and will face Shohei Ohtani on the mound on Wednesday night for the deciding game. They’ll have a day off Thursday before returning home to face Bruce Bochy’s Texas Rangers in a three-game series starting Friday.
