San Ramon Valley, Bellarmine, Silver Creek standouts lead all-Bay Area News Group preseason kicker/punter list

Casey Carr, 6-1, 180, junior, Santa Teresa

Kicker who is accurate from within 40 yards. Plays tight end and defensive end as well. “One of the top kickers in the section,” according to ST coach Steve Papin.

McClymonds senior Isaac Espinosa, 5-10, 190

Kicks, punts, and plays quarterback. Chris Sailer kicking gave it a 4.5 star rating. Possesses a 50-yard field-goal range. Last season, he made five field goals and 63 of 65 PATs.

Senior Christopher Han, St. Francis, 5-10, 185

As a junior, he made all 22 of his PAT attempts and was 4 for 4 on field goals with a long of 39. In addition, he averaged 50.3 yards per kickoff and 35.4 yards per punt.

Lucas LeSieur, senior, Northgate, 6-0, 160

Kicker and punter for Walnut Creek High School. Kohl’s national rankings place him as a five-star punter and a 4.5-star kicker. Last season, he made field goals from 47 yards (twice) and 45 yards. To defeat Las Lomas, he hit a game-winning home run in the first round of the playoffs.

Brandon Niemeyer, senior, Granada, 6-0, 165

Last season, the kicker/punter converted 5 of 6 field goal attempts. In the season finale against rival Livermore, he hit a long of 53. Also finished the season with 39 points after going 24 of 24 on PATs.

Los Gatos senior Sam Pearman, 6-0, 185

As a junior, he was a first-team all-league selection. For a team that won the league championship, he made 50 of 51 PATs and three of four field-goal attempts.

Austin Shelton, 5-9, 145, senior, San Ramon Valley

Last season, he was Mr. Clutch. In the final seconds of the NorCal 2-A championship game, he kicked a 37-yard field goal during a rainstorm. Also kicked a 37-yard field goal in the final seconds to send the 2-A state championship game into overtime. In 2022, he made 8 of 10 field goals and 72 of 75 PATs.

Silver Creek senior Trajan Sinatra, 6-0, 190

Split the uprights from 55 yards out at Chris Sailer’s summer camp for kickers. For the San Jose school, he also plays quarterback.

Connor Tripp, Bellarmine, senior, 5-10, 165

Chris Sailer gives it a five-star rating. Last season, he was 5 of 7 on field-goal attempts, with a long of 39. In addition, he converted 27 of 29 PAT attempts.

Diego Arreola Velazquez, 5-8, 190, senior, Newark Memorial

In 2022, all-Bay Area News Group honorable mention. Linebacker is another position he plays. Last season, he was named first-team all-league kicker/punter.
