Oakland: Innocent bystander walking dog at lake is badly wounded by gunfire
Woman was caught in the crossfirewalking her dog when gunfire hit her
OAKLAND, Calif. — According to Oakland police, a woman was shot while walking her dog along the shore of Lake Merritt near Madison Street on Monday afternoon and was hit by random gunfire aimed at a passing car.
According to police, several people got out of a car and fired shots at another vehicle traveling on Lakeside Drive. At least one hit was delivered to the unidentified woman. According to police, she was taken to the hospital and was in critical but stable condition. Her dog was unharmed.
Officers from the Oakland Police Department rushed to the scene after receiving multiple reports of gunfire. Both vehicles had already taken off.
The Oakland Police Department and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the shooters’ arrest.
