HGTV paid $3.5 million for the home in 2018
The Studio City home best known as the exterior of “The Brady Bunch” has sold for $3.2 million.
Tina Trahan, the new owner, intends to keep the 5,140-square-foot house with five bedrooms and five bathrooms as is.That includes the burnt orange and avocado green kitchen, Mike’s desk, and Tiger’s dog house in the backyard.
The Wall Street Journal first reported that Trahan, the wife of former HBO chief Chris Albrecht and a collector of art and historic homes, expressed an interest in purchasing the “Brady Bunch” house to her longtime real estate agent Marcy Roth of the Eklund Gomes team at Douglas Elliman.
Roth assumed she was joking.
Trahan, a fan of the 1970s sitcom about a blended family, was serious about purchasing the circa 1959 house but did not intend to live in it.
Trahan told the Journal that she intends to use the property for fundraising and charitable purposes.
During a phone conversation, Roth mentioned that Trahan had discussed the possibility of converting the garage into a livable space for overnight guests. Aside from that, she has no plans to change anything about the house.
“In my opinion, it’s a collectible for her, and bringing in anything modern ruins it,” said Roth, who represented Trahan in the deal along with Fredrick Eklund.
The sales price is approximately 9% less than the $3.5 million paid for the home by HGTV in 2018.
When the house went on the market for the first time in nearly 50 years with an asking price of $1.885 million, it sparked a high-profile bidding war that included ‘Nsync’s Lance Bass. David Zaslav, CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery and overseer of HGTV, announced plans to “restore the Brady Bunch home to its 1970s glory.”
The network spent $1.9 million to expand the property’s footprint by 2,000 square feet, which only added to the Bradymania.More than 28 million people watched the show “A Very Brady Renovation” to see the actors who played the six Brady children reunite and transform the house into a replica of the original set design.
They returned to the renovated house later for a holiday treat.
HGTV listed the Brady home for $5.5 million in May.Danny Brown of Compass was in charge of the listing.
