How 49ers fans in the Bay Area can watch tonight’s game on TV
Thursday Night Football: 49ers-Giants game will be simulcast on over-the-air TV in Bay Area
Bay Area NFL fans will need Amazon Prime to watch most Thursday Night Football games this season.
However, because the 49ers are hosting the New York Giants, tonight’s game will also be broadcast on regular television.
The 49ers’ home opener will be simulcast on KTVU (FOX, Ch. 2) in the San Francisco television market, with coverage beginning at 5 p.m. and kickoff set for 5:15 p.m.
KTVU will not broadcast Amazon’s pregame coverage, but will air a postgame show. NBC Sports Bay Area will air its weekly “49ers Pregame” show from 4-5 p.m. for fans looking for a pregame show.
Because the Giants-Dodgers game will be broadcast on the main channel, NBC Sports Bay Area’s usual “49ers Postgame” show will be televised live on NBC Sports Bay Area Plus following the game. After Giants coverage concludes, the “49ers Postgame” show will be replayed on the main channel.
The 49ers’ game against the New York Giants will be the first of two on Thursdays this season. The next one will be on Thanksgiving night, when the 49ers travel to Seattle to face their NFC West rival Seahawks in a game that will be nationally televised on NBC.
This season, the 49ers will play two Monday Night Football games, both of which will air on ABC: The Oct. 23 game against the Minnesota Vikings will be a joint ESPN/ABC broadcast, while the Christmas Eve game against the Baltimore Ravens will be an ABC exclusive.
With those telecasts and this week’s FOX simulcast, all 16 currently scheduled 49ers games will air on network television, allowing fans to watch every game even if they only have an antenna.
