When Netflix is faced with a major, agenda-setting decision, it convenes a special team of business leaders to discuss the issue.
This group of 22 has influenced major company decisions such as its expansion into mobile games and advertising.
The Lstaff — the L stands for leadership — is a group of select department heads with diverse perspectives, backgrounds, and responsibilities.
It includes Netflix executives such as co-CEOs Ted Sarandos and Greg Peters, as well as cofounder and executive chairman Reed Hastings and other business leaders such as Bela Bajaria, the chief content officer who oversees global TV and film. Scott Stuber, the company’s film chair, is also on the Lstaff, as is Minyoung Kim, vice president of content for Korea, Japan, Southeast Asia, Australia, and New Zealand.
The Lstaff has undergone a flurry of recent changes that reflect company exits, hires, and new areas of growth. Jeremi Gorman, who was hired from Snap to help build Netflix’s advertising business, has recently been replaced by longtime employee Amy Reinhard. Wade Davis recently joined the organization as the head of inclusion strategy, succeeding Vern Myers. Elizabeth Stone was promoted to chief technology officer, with responsibility for engineering, which was previously led by departing VP Deborah Black. Bryony Gagan, vice president of business and legal affairs, recently left the company.
