Startups and venture capital are still overwhelmingly male-dominated, but more and more female investors are claiming a seat at the table each year.
In many ways, progress has slowed, particularly as investors tighten their purse strings and founders prepare for a “mass extinction event.” Women accounted for 16% of general partners at VC firms with more than $50 million in assets in 2022, according to PitchBook data, the most recent year for which data was available.
Women in venture capital who became partners or general partners for the first time in 2023 are being recognized by Business Insider. Our list excludes the many women who go it alone to raise microfunds or female angel investors.
