Actor Jason Momoa (and his premium vodka) heading to the Bay Area
Bottle-signing events scheduled in San Jose, Danville, Redwood City, Oakland
Take in the scene.
Jason Momoa steps out of the snow-fed springs, shaking the water off his chiseled torso and magnificent mane.
Is this the first trailer for “Aquaman 2,” which hits theaters on December 20?
No, it cannot double as that. This is promotional footage for Momoa’s side business, Meili Vodka.
The actor has joined the ranks of celebrities who have their own branded spirits, in this case eschewing the crowded tequila market in favor of promoting high-end vodka.
Momoa co-founded Meili Vodka, a spirit distilled in Montana from grain grown there and water sourced there, with friend and business partner Blaine Halvorson, a LA-based cult-favorite clothing designer who grew up in Big Sky Country.
“Seven years ago, we embarked on the journey to create Meili together,” Momoa says on the website, “to not only tell our story but to bring others along with us; to craft the best vodka on the planet — from spirit to bottle.”
Meili (pronounced MAY-lee) costs $24.99. Although the website states that it is “designed to be enjoyed neat” — that is, sipped on its own — promoters claim that it works well in cocktails.
Momoa and Halvorson are making appearances throughout the Bay Area, including at several grocery stores. Fans must be 21 or older, and they are encouraged to arrive early. There is no need to make a purchase.
