Cupertino burglary suspects arrested after car chase
Police found stolen property worth thousands of dollars in purses, jewelry and watches
According to the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office, a burglary in Cupertino that led authorities on a car chase to Fremont resulted in an arrest on Friday.
At 12:33 p.m., Sheriff’s deputies responded to a burglary in progress in the 22000 block of Balboa Road in Cupertino. Two men, ages 27 and 30, drove away in a 2017 Toyota Tacoma.
The driver led deputies on a chase into Fremont before colliding with another vehicle on I-880 northbound near Mowry Avenue; the other driver suffered non-life threatening injuries but was taken to the hospital. After the crash, the driver of the pursuit vehicle fled the scene. Deputies and Fremont Police Department officers apprehended both men.
In the driver’s vehicle, police discovered stolen property worth thousands of dollars in purses, jewelry, and watches belonging to the resident of the Balboa Road home.
The two men were arrested for residential burglary, resisting and eluding a peace officer, conspiracy to commit a crime, hit and run causing bodily harm, and possession of stolen property.
