Driver dies in fiery solo crash in Mountain View
Vehicle burst into flames after striking Highway 85 concrete connector
MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA — According to the California Highway Patrol, a driver died early Friday morning after crashing into a concrete wall connector on Highway 85.
The driver, who was traveling northbound toward the junction of Highway 85 and US 101, struck the connector for unknown reasons around 1:55 a.m. After the fire was extinguished, authorities discovered one person dead inside the car.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the cause of the crash is still being investigated. It was unclear whether the crash was caused by alcohol or drugs, or by excessive speed.
Coroner’s officials were working to determine the identity of the deceased.
