Five people arrested after beating, attempted stabbing in San Mateo
Most of the people arrested were teenagers, police said
Authorities said five people were arrested late Wednesday night after a man was beaten while waiting at a bus stop in San Mateo.
According to the San Mateo Police Department, the beating occurred shortly before 11 p.m. Wednesday near Hillsdale Boulevard and Edison Street in the city’s Hillsdale neighborhood.
According to police, five people surrounded a man waiting for a bus and began punching him. One of the assailants also pulled out a knife and attempted to stab the victim.
The man was able to flee and call police for assistance. Officers later arrested four San Mateo residents, the majority of whom were teenagers, and a 17-year-old boy in connection with the attack, according to police.
