Fremont: 28-year-old man arrested for attempted murder in double stabbing

FREMONT — A 28-year-old man was arrested Friday evening hours after he was suspected of stabbing two men, one of whom was in critical condition.

According to authorities, the suspect, a Fremont resident, is being held without bail at the Santa Rita Jail on two counts of attempted murder.

The stabbing occurred outside in the 4100 block of Walnut Avenue at 4:47 p.m. on Friday.

Officers discovered two men, one 23 years old and the other 30 years old, with stab wounds. The men or the suspect did not know each other, according to police.

They were taken to nearby hospitals. The 30-year-old man was in critical condition, while the other man was stable.

According to police, the suspect was identified using surveillance footage from the stabbings and witness statements.

According to police, officers “saturated the area” and found and arrested the suspect without incident within several hours. The motive for the stabbings is still unknown.

He is scheduled to appear in court on November 22. According to police, he has a history of robbery and drug-related offenses.
