Gilroy: 34-year-old man on electric skateboard hit and killed by driver
The crash happened late Saturday evening
GILBERT — Authorities said a vehicle struck and killed a 34-year-old man riding an electric skateboard on First Street between Wren and Kern avenues on Saturday night.
The Gilroy Police Department responded to several 911 calls about a man being hit by a driver around 9 p.m. Officers arrived to find the man in critical condition. According to police, they used “emergency life-saving measures,” but the man died at the scene.
His identity was not made public until confirmation and notification of his next of kin were received.
The vehicle’s driver remained at the scene and cooperated with police.According to preliminary findings, the man was riding an electric skateboard in the road prior to the crash.
Authorities have not released any additional information about the crash, such as how it occurred or whether the man killed was wearing a helmet.
