Highway 101 in Redwood City set for weekend closures in each direction
Cordilleras Creek Bridge replacement work set for Sept. 29 to Oct. 2 and Oct. 13 to 16
REDWOOD CITY, CA – According to Caltrans, a stretch of Highway 101 will be closed in two parts beginning later this month as crews work to replace a bridge in Redwood City.
The closures were imposed to allow for the replacement of the Cordilleras Creek Bridge, which connects the Whipple Avenue and Brittan Avenue exits. According to Caltrans, the bridge is nearing the end of its useful life.
The initial closure will last from September 29 to October 2 and will only affect the 101 southbound lanes. It will start at 10 p.m. on Friday and end at 5 a.m. on Monday. Drivers will be diverted at the Britton Avenue exit and will be able to re-enter the highway via the Whipple Avenue on-ramp.
The northbound lanes will be closed from Oct. 13 to 16, with the same hours as the southbound closure: 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. Drivers can take an alternate route from the Whipple Avenue off-ramp to the Holly Street on-ramp.
