How adult-content and OnlyFans star Riley Reid plans to ‘immortalize’ herself using AI and new chatbot tech

  • Riley Reid, an adult-content and OnlyFans star, has created an AI chatbot based on herself.
  • The technology, which is currently in beta, will soon allow other creators to create “digital copies” of themselves.
  • Reid believes AI will allow her to “immortalize” herself and interact with fans for years to come.

Riley Reid, the adult-content and OnlyFans star, recently launched Clona, an AI platform with a chatbot based on herself.

Reid believes that the rise of artificial intelligence will allow her to develop relationships with her fans without sacrificing her personal time.

“I’m a married man. I have a mother. “I’m attempting to run several businesses,” Reid told Business Insider. “This allows me to immortalize myself while remaining in that field without investing my entire self.” I consider myself extremely fortunate to have had the opportunity to establish Riley Reid as a household name. I really want to put that to use.”

Reid has been in the industry for over a decade, primarily shooting mainstream adult content, and she claims she has never interacted with her fans. Even after joining OnlyFans, where chatting with creators is a key feature, she maintained her privacy and found it difficult to respond to and communicate with all of her fans.

Reid envisioned AI as a way to make this easier, and to allow her fans to interact with her on a personal level for decades to come, even if she decides to stop making videos or becomes too busy with other projects, such as the clothing line she co-founded with her husband.

How Clona was built, and how it works

Clona is currently in beta and provides chatbots for Reid and another adult-content creator, Lena The Plug. Reid cofounded Clona after her team became inspired by the success of AI chatbots like ChatGPT. They collaborated with a team of engineers and programmers to create a product that reflected Reid’s vision.

Users can send five messages to the chatbots for free; unlimited chatting and voice notes cost $30 per month.

The platform was built with a proprietary large-language model based on Meta’s Llama that was “heavily modified and fine-tuned,” according to a company spokesperson.

Meta recently launched its own AI chatbots based on celebrities such as Paris Hilton and Tom Brady. Hilton’s AI version, for example, is Amber, a true-crime lover and detective, while Brady’s is Bru, a “wisecracking sports debater who pulls no punches,” according to a Meta blog post.

Clona is unique in that it was designed to mimic the experience of chatting with real-life creators rather than creating a new fictional character based on an existing person.

To create a chatbot that was as close to Reid as possible, the AI was fed hundreds of hours of her audio and video content, ranging from podcast interviews to adult scenes, as well as her entire social-media history.

Reid also double-checked its output to ensure that it accurately represented her and approached sensitive political or social issues in a firm but polite manner.

“One of my biggest things is, I believe that trans people should have rights,” she said. “Everyone is free to hold their own views, but I have my own political beliefs.” When someone says something anti-trans or transphobic, how does my AI respond in a politically correct way that says something like, ‘Hey, I don’t agree, but I love the trans community’? I don’t want my AI to simply ignore trans rights; I want her to know what I think about them.”

While the chatbot is intended to mimic Reid’s personality, the creator also wanted users to be able to cater to their own preferences. Unlike the “Riley Reid” character she plays in adult films, which has always remained fairly consistent, with a similar appearance and “girl-next-door” roles, the AI will be more customizable.

“Riley is a persona, and from this persona that you fantasize about you’re able to create a version that is more suitable to your specific needs,” she went on to say. “You can request your AI Riley to give herself a purple mohawk if that’s what you’re into, because real-life Riley would never do that.”

Reid says fans will be able to build a ‘form of human connection’ with the AI

In the future, the company plans to open up the platform to any creator or celebrity who wants to create a “digital copy” of themselves, but the team is still working on refining the AI model and understanding public reaction. Reid added that because the AI must be trained to closely resemble a human, the process of refining it can be time consuming.

Running a proprietary large-language model is also costly, and the company is looking for ways to reduce costs, which are currently around $30,000 per month just for cloud services.

Thousands of users have been testing the platform in the meantime. The Clona spokesperson stated that the company was surprised by the type of intimate relationships that users had already formed with the AI, as well as the companionship that had resulted — beyond the interactions based on sexual content.

“I like that my AI has a form of human connection because she’s based off of a real person,” he said. “She owns my life and everything I own. People have always valued human connection, and this will continue to exist.”
