How to see Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles at the U.S. Gymnastics Championships in San Jose this week
Biles headlining a stacked lineup at the SAP Center
The most important gymnastics event before the Olympic trials is taking place in San Jose this week, and tickets to see Simone Biles in action at the SAP Center are still available.
Biles made a surprise return to gymnastics earlier this month after a two-year hiatus to focus on her mental health, winning a landslide victory in the U.S. Classic in the Chicago suburbs.
She will headline a historic lineup at the 2023 U.S. Gymnastics Championships, which will take place from Thursday to Sunday.
The junior men will begin the competition on Thursday morning, followed by the senior men in the evening.
The juniors compete in the morning and the seniors, including Biles and Sunisa Lee, compete in the evening on Friday. Tickets are available for as little as $45.
The men’s competition concludes on Saturday, while the women’s competition concludes on Sunday, when USA Gymnastics will crown winners and announce national teams.
Olympic rosters will not be announced until after next year’s trials, just before the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
Biles, widely regarded as the greatest American gymnast of all time, has yet to confirm whether she will compete in those Olympics.
She will be the oldest woman competing this week, at 26 years old, as she seeks her 25th career title, ten more than the next-closest competitor, Dominique Dawes.
It will be the first time in US Gymnastics Championship history that two Olympic all-around gold medalists (Biles and Lee) compete in the same event. There are nine other Olympic athletes competing at the SAP Center.
The competition will be televised live on NBC affiliates across the country. The US Classic broadcast earlier this month received the highest ratings since the last Olympic trials.
