Peninsula: Caltrain hits, kills person while approaching Belmont station

The collision occurred just after 11 p.m. Monday

BELMONT — According to the commuter rail line, a person died Monday night after being hit by a Caltrain approaching Belmont station.

At 11:10 p.m., the collision was reported. After the northbound train came to a stop and emergency personnel arrived, the struck individual was still breathing, but death was confirmed by 11:37 p.m.

When the train collided, there were 13 passengers on board. There were no other injuries reported.
