According to journalist Steve Keeley, the small plane went down near Cottman Avenue and Roosevelt Boulevard in northeast Philadelphia, an area that includes a mall and several homes.
Footage captured a large explosion followed by a fireball at the moment of impact. Videos taken immediately after the crash showed multiple homes and vehicles engulfed in flames, along with a widespread debris field.
Casualties have been reported on the ground, according to CBS Philadelphia. The plane was carrying two people.
The crash site is near Northeast Philadelphia Airport. The cause of the incident remains unknown.
