Prep roundup, scoreboard: SHP boys, girls advance to NorCal water polo semifinals

Results from Tuesday’s NorCal girls volleyball finals, boys and girls water polo quarterfinals

Boys water polo

NorCal Division I

No. 1 Sacred Heart Prep defeated No. 8 Davis 4–9.

Top-seeded Sacred Heart Prep, playing at home in Atherton, scored two goals in the first quarter, three more in the second, and went on to defeat Davis in the first round of the CIF NorCal regional.

SHP advanced to play No. 4 seed De La Salle on Friday night at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, thanks to two goals from Andrew Spencer, Nelson Harris, and Oliver Marcin.

SHP also got goals from Luke Kirincich, Tyler Hogan, and Clay Carrington against Davis. SHP improved to 22-7 with two assists from Harris and two from Carrington.

SHP’s Murdock Baker-Matsuoka had 11 saves and a steal.

NorCal Division II

San Ramon Valley (15), Clovis West (9).

On a day when seven San Ramon Valley players scored, Julius Martell led the way with four goals and Toby John added three as the Wolves defeated Clovis West at home to advance to the NorCal regional semifinals against second-seeded Buchanan at St. Mary’s-Stockton High on Friday.

Grayson Konigsberg and Chase King each scored twice for SRV. The Wolves received one goal each from Nico Berger, Sawyer Jones, and Drew Arney.

As SRV improved to 20-7, Nick Tovani made eight saves and four steals.

Girls water polo

NorCal Division I

Sacred Heart Prep 6, Carondelet 5

After three periods, third-seeded Sacred Heart Prep led 6-3 and held off Carondelet’s comeback attempt to advance to the NorCal regional semifinals.

SHP was led by Casey Coleman, Margaret Brandin, Vivan Golub, and Kiernan Hogan, who each scored once. Ellison Brush made 10 saves and had a steal.

Carondelet finished the season 16-9, with Abigail Roder scoring twice and Josie Haast, Ainsley Swann, and Reagan Fullerton scoring once each.

Carondelet goalkeeper Sarah Wright had eight saves and an assist.

On Friday, SHP (26-3) will face No. 2 seed Campolindo in the semifinals at UOP.
