San Jose teenager arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after allegedly running into group with a car

SAN JOSE, Calif. — According to police, a 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after allegedly running over a group of people following a fight at an East San Jose restaurant in September.
According to police, one of the people hit by the vehicle is still in the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
On September 23, a fight broke out inside a restaurant near the intersection of Stewart and Alum Rock avenues. According to police, when the victims left the establishment, the teenager followed them in a vehicle and plowed into the group.
On Friday, police released a surveillance video from the scene that showed the initial collision. The video clearly shows a black sedan pursuing a group of four people running through a parking lot on foot. According to police, the car eventually catches up to the group and appears to ram into two victims.
According to authorities, the teen fled the scene and later returned to strike one of the victims a second time.

The suspect was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon following an investigation. Authorities did not name the suspect, citing juvenile privacy laws, nor did they explain how they were discovered to be involved in the incident.
