Santa Clara: Elderly woman dies of injuries suffered in Aug. 21 crash
Three-vehicle collision happened on southbound Lawrence Expressway north of El Camino Real off-ramp
SANTA CLARA, Calif. – According to police, an elderly woman died on Sunday as a result of injuries sustained in a collision last week in Santa Clara.
According to Santa Clara police Lt. Mike Crescini, the woman, who was driving a Mercedes-Benz, collided with two other vehicles around 3:50 p.m. on Aug. 21 on southbound Lawrence Expressway north of the El Camino Real off-ramp.
Crescini stated that the woman was taken to San Jose’s Santa Clara Valley Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. She died shortly before 10 p.m. Sunday at the hospital.
Margit Julia Baker, 92, of Santa Clara, was identified as the woman by the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office. There were no other injuries reported.
Crescini said the Mercedes was seen accelerating through a stop sign from a parking lot at 3705 El Camino Real prior to the collision.
