The thing I’m most excited to see from Apple’s big ‘Glowtime’ event
I’m already feeling excited about Monday’s launch event.
As details about Apple’s newest products emerge, I look forward to seeing an old favorite return at Monday’s “Glowtime” launch event.
Bloomberg correspondent and Apple expert Mark Gurman previewed some of the items, and his thoughts on the new gold iPhone 16 Pro made me eager to see it unveiled on Monday.
“I think the new iPhone 16 Pro gold is going to be the stand out color this year and potentially drive interest,” Gurman said on X.
He added, “I’ve never had a gold iPhone before but considering.”
As someone who has had a gold iPhone, I immediately felt nostalgic.
In 2016, 16-year-old me owned a gold iPhone 6. Although the phone’s battery eventually gave out before I was ready to let it go, its resplendent frame, with an accented home button (remember those?) to match, is still a favorite of mine.
The gold iPhone 6 was a must-have for me.
The iPhone 6 isn’t the first or last model to come with a gold finish. The iPhone 14 Pro Max has a gold option, but Apple took a more understated approach to the natural titanium shade of the iPhone 15 Pro.
For me, the gold iPhone 6 stood out as a must-have color. Maybe it just reminds me of a time of wired headphones and Snapchat filters, but its successors have fallen short so far.
And aside from the revamped color options, the iPhone 16 will be the first iPhone released in the era of Apple Intelligence, and the Pro models will have a camera button on the right side to take photos, according to Bloomberg.
If Gurman is impressed enough to ditch his current finish for a gold iPhone 16 Pro, then I’m excited to see if it can motivate me to upgrade from my purple iPhone 14 Pro Max.
After all, Wedbush Securities analyst Dan Ives has been calling it a “golden upgrade cycle.”
