Verizon just lost another senior marketing exec

Verizon, the world’s largest telecommunications company, is set to lose another senior marketer months after its longtime CMO announced his departure, Insider has learned.

Nina Bibby, Verizon’s senior vice president of consumer marketing, has decided to leave the company to return to the United Kingdom from the United States, according to a company spokesperson. Bibby did not respond to a LinkedIn request for comment. An email sent to her Verizon address bounced.

Verizon Consumer Group chief revenue officer Frank Boulben said in an internal email shared with Insider that Arturo Picicci, Verizon’s vice president of mobile and home value propositions and execution, will assume Bibby’s responsibilities until the company appoints a successor.

Bibby joined Verizon in December 2021 from O2, the UK mobile network operator where she was CMO for nearly eight years before leaving following the company’s merger with Virgin Media.

At Verizon, she was instrumental in the launch of myPlan, a flexible contract that allows customers to choose from a variety of perks such as Walmart+ membership and a Disney bundle for as little as $ 10 per month. She was also involved in the marketing for the Total by Verizon prepaid wireless service and its +play content platform. She went to see Boulben.

Her departure leaves a larger void in Verizon’s marketing organization, following CMO Diego Scotti’s announcement in May that he would step down this year after nearly nine years in the role, as first reported by The Wall Street Journal. Rima Qureshi, chief strategy officer and executive vice president, has taken over as interim leader of the centarl marketing team. A new CMO has yet to be named.

Verizon Wireless has the most customers in the United States, but it has been losing market share to competitors such as T-Mobile and AT&T in recent years. According to Ad Age, it was the eighth highest-spending advertiser in the United States in 2022, with a total outlay of $3.5 billion. Last year, CEO Hans Vestberg also announced a program to cut the company’s costs by $2 billion to $3 billion by 2025.
