Antioch man found shot to death Wednesday afternoon

Police did not announce any arrests in the case

THE ANTIOCH – The coroner’s office identified Ryan Devon Jones, 44, as the man who was shot to death here on Wednesday.

According to the coroner’s office, he was an Antioch transient.

Antioch police Lt. Rick Martin said in a news release that officers were called to the railroad tracks between A Street and Cavallo Road shortly after 2 p.m. for a report of a person who was possibly dead. They arrived to find a man with a gunshot wound, later identified as Jones.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

Police had not released any additional information about the killing, including a possible motive, as of Thursday morning. Police made no arrests or released any suspect descriptions.
