Deputies arrest car thieves in Saratoga
Vehicle had been stolen out of San Jose
Sept. 19
Deputies responded to an automated license plate reader notification for a vehicle with a stolen license plate at Saratoga-Sunnyvale and Prospect roads at 2:04 a.m. An investigation revealed that the license plate was stolen from a vehicle in San Jose and was still on the loose. Shortly after, deputies located and attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver refused to yield and recklessly evaded, and the pursuit was eventually called off. The suspect driver is still at large.
Sept. 21
Forgery: A Saratoga business reported that someone altered and cashed two checks belonging to the company, resulting in a $13,550 loss.
Deputies responded to an automated license plate reader notification for a stolen vehicle at Saratoga Avenue and Kosich Drive at 12:48 p.m. An investigation revealed that the vehicle had been stolen in San Jose and was still on the loose. A short time later, deputies located and stopped the vehicle. An additional investigation revealed that both the driver and the passenger had outstanding warrants. Both were detained.
Shoplifting: At 9:45 p.m., someone broke into CVS in the Argonaut Shopping Center on Saratoga-Sunnyvale Road and stole $273 in merchandise.
Sept. 22
Identity theft: A Saratoga resident reported that someone used their personal information to gain access to their bank account and then made numerous fraudulent payments to an unknown credit card account totaling approximately $12,149.
Residential burglary: Between 1:47 p.m. and 3 p.m., someone entered a residence in the 15000 block of Bohlman Road using unknown means because there were no signs of forced entry, then used car keys found in the garage to access and search the vehicles therein before fleeing the scene without stealing anything from the vehicles or the residence.
