Football recruiting: Three-star Serra quarterback Maealiuaki Smith commits to Big XII school

Maealiuaki Smith, the quarterback for Serra, announced his commitment to Oklahoma State on social media.

On Sunday afternoon, Smith shared a highlight video of himself wearing Oklahoma State gear on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

According to 247Sports.com, Smith is a three-star recruit and the 38th best quarterback in the class of 2024. The 6-foot-4 quarterback is ranked first in Oklahoma State’s recruiting class.

“Congratulations Maealiuaki,” wrote Serra coach Patrick Walsh on X. “@CowboyFB (Oklahoma State), you’re in for a treat!” We’re all looking forward to seeing you play big-time football in the Big XII.”

Smith has started for the San Mateo school the last two seasons, going 24-1. He led the team to the CCS Open championship in 2022, throwing for 2,546 yards and 34 touchdowns.

“Yessir!! I’m proud of you, kid! “Keep Your Head Down And Keep Going,” wrote Serra offensive coordinator Darius Fautua Bell on X.

Smith was also courted by Washington, Florida State, BYU, and a number of other Power-5 schools.
