New school year brings new principals to Campbell school district

When students return to school on August 16, many will have new principals, as well as part-time assistant principals at two of the district’s elementary schools. The latter will devote the other half of their time to supporting programs for students with special needs.

Anne Ajlouni, principal of Blackford Elementary School, retired in June and will be replaced by Veronica Valencia, who has worked in the district for 16 years as a teacher and site administrator, most recently as assistant principal at Monroe Middle School.

Kami Thordarson has stepped down as principal of the Campbell School of Innovation. Thordarson’s replacement is Xyzzy Godfrey, the current principal of Village School. Godfrey has been a teacher and a site administrator for the district for 16 years. Stephanie Day, the assistant principal, will be her supervisor.

Lisa Wiseman, the new assistant principal at Capri Elementary School, has been a teacher in the district for 15 years.

Village Elementary, the district’s parent participation school, has a new principal, Alicia Mommer. Mommer has extensive administrative experience in both public schools and the nonprofit sector, as well as extensive classroom teaching experience at a parent participation school. Patrick Sieler, the current principal of Marshall Lane Elementary School, will transfer to Monroe Middle School as co-administrator alongside principal Ruth Stephens Radle. Sieler has worked as a middle school teacher and administrator for many years.

Amy Vanderbosch, the current assistant principal at Rolling Hills Middle School, will be the new principal at Marshall Lane. Michelle Beddo, the new assistant principal, will work alongside her.
