Driver brandishes firearm in Saratoga road rage incident

Oct. 2
Vehicle burglary: Between 10 p.m. on Oct. 1 and 11:30 a.m. on Oct. 2, someone broke through the window of a parked vehicle in the 18000 block of Swarthmore Drive and stole a $70 vehicle owner’s manual.
Between 9 a.m. and noon, someone broke through the window of a vehicle parked at the Quito Courtyard Offices on Cox Avenue and stole a $50 flashlight.
Someone broke a bathroom window in a home in the 20000 block of Big Basin Way between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. The total cost of the damage was estimated to be $500.
Assault and battery: Deputies responded to a disturbance in the 12000 block of Pierce Road at 1:30 p.m. An investigation revealed that the suspect had an argument with the victim before pushing her to the ground.
Deputies responded to a disturbance at Safeway in the Argonaut Shopping Center on Saratoga-Sunnyvale Road at 8:34 p.m. for shoplifting and public intoxication. An investigation revealed that two suspects stole $417 in groceries. Further investigation revealed that one suspect was unable to care for himself due to alcohol intoxication, and the other suspect had two outstanding warrants.
Oct. 3
Identity theft, reckless evasion, non-injury hit and run, possession of a stolen vehicle, stolen property, and possession of a dirk/dagger: Deputies responded to an automated license plate reader notification at Miljevich Drive and Saratoga-Sunnyvale Road at 3:44 a.m. for a vehicle with stolen license plates. The plates were stolen from a vehicle in Fremont and were still outstanding, according to an investigation. Shortly after, deputies located and attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver refused to yield and recklessly evaded until the vehicle became disabled. Three suspects then fled on foot after abandoning the vehicle. Two were apprehended, and further investigation revealed that the vehicle had also been stolen from Fremont, and the suspects were in possession of a knife, stolen property, and personal identifying information that did not belong to either suspect. Both were arrested and taken to juvenile detention. The third suspect is still at large.
At 6:20 a.m., someone broke into an unlocked vehicle parked in the driveway of a home in the 13000 block of Ravenwood Drive and stole a backpack containing cash, a checkbook, glasses, keys, and two credit cards, totaling $1,509.
Oct. 4
A motorist brandished a firearm at another motorist during a road rage incident while driving on Sobey Road near Sperry Lane at 6:13 p.m. The suspect has been identified, and the case has been forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office for review.
Oct. 5
Vehicle tampering, grand theft: Between 2 p.m. on Sept. 27 and 6 p.m. on Oct. 5, someone tampered with a parked vehicle in the 12000 block of Saratoga Avenue and stole a catalytic converter, totaling $3,000.
A Saratoga resident reported that someone posed as technical support with a major computer company, sent the victim a pop-up message on the victim’s computer, claimed there was a virus on the victim’s computer, and eventually convinced the victim to meet at Safeway on Saratoga-Sunnyvale Road to provide cash for a $8000 loss.
Oct. 7
Possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia: Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle call at the intersection of Via Colina and Saratoga-Los Gatos Road at 4:38 p.m. Deputies approached a vehicle’s occupant, and an investigation revealed that the suspect was in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
Oct. 8
Deputies responded to a vehicle collision in the 13000 block of Quito Road at 3:12 a.m. An investigation revealed that the suspect driver was under the influence of alcohol.
