JetBlue, Uber to offer free rides to passengers facing certain travel disruptions

Uber for Business and JetBlue have announced a new partnership to benefit airline passengers who have experienced qualifying travel disruptions.

As part of the agreement, JetBlue will provide free Uber vouchers to passengers who experience a qualified flight delay or cancellation, with the program currently available in every city where the carrier operates in the United States.

Uber and JetBlue have also announced plans to expand the service globally, beginning with major airports in Paris, London, and Amsterdam.

“We always work hard to give our customers a great onboard experience and to get them to their destination safely and on time,” said JetBlue President and COO Joanna Geraghty. “Sometimes travel doesn’t go as planned, and flights can get delayed or cancelled.”

“In those cases, when the disruption is due to something in our control, our partnership with Uber for Business will make options for our customers more seamless,” Geraghty went on to say.

A delay or cancellation must be within JetBlue’s control and meet the following criteria in order for passengers to qualify for the service:

— If a JetBlue flight is delayed three hours or more from its scheduled departure time due to a Controllable Irregularity, and the customer is unable to be accommodated until the following day, JetBlue will provide ground transportation from the airport to/from a nearby airport area hotel.

— If JetBlue cancels a flight due to a Controllable Irregularity, and the customer is unable to be accommodated until the next day, JetBlue will provide ground transportation from the airport to/from a local airport area hotel.

JetBlue chose Uber for Business because approximately 170,000 organizations rely on the company’s platforms to improve operations and customer service solutions.
