ALASKA: Mike and Rhea Nersesian of San Leandro recently returned from a three-day trip to Katmai National Park, “where we had the privilege of seeing in person the bears at the famous Brooks Falls,” Rhea says, “site of the Explore.org live bear cams and the famous Fat Bear Week!” (And, yes, those are bears in the photo’s background >>>>>)

“Brooks is open in July, August, and early September.” All Brooks Falls lodge reservations are made via lottery 18 months in advance — (it) opens on December 1 for stays in 2025; https://katmailand.com. There are also campgrounds; reservations for the following year open in January through the Parks Service. Day trips to Brooks are also available by float plane.”
